Field Notes

Description:

This gull is in its winter coloring. This gull has black legs and feet. Its bill also appears dark. The wings are gray. The underside of the tail is white. The top of the tail ends in black tipped feathers. The head has some slight coloring so that it is not pure white.

Habitat:

FL coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

Notes:

These gulls come in groups whenever food is about. Their raucous cries seem to alert others of their kind to the bounty.
Protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
