Description:

light purple blooms, leaves a bit like water hyacinth

Habitat:

growing in a wet area near a cliff edge

Notes:

I spotted this while on my way to repel down a cliff.

Thanks Craig, that's the one. I think you have the same one monkey-mind and np.
Got it! Same family, Pontederiaceae, invasive in SA.
It was growing in water but I'm not sure. I can't find any similar matches. These flowers look smaller and the leaves look larger than what I see online. Any thoughts?
It certainly does look like an Eichornia, Dan. E.azurea would be a fitting name but that sp. doesn't look too similar.
