Field Notes

Description:

The shadows from the flower on the leaves were interesting. The flowering tree had huge pink stem-like flowers and possibly star fruit like fruits that Noah members have said are NOT actually star fruits, but probably orchid bulbs of some variety. In the last picture there is actually a leaf coming out of the bulb. Thanks to a NOAH member for pointing that out. I never noticed it. Possibly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carambola.

Notes:

I have hundreds of pictures from my trip to the Atlanta Botanic Gardens. I'm going through and uploading them as fast as I can. I found more pictures of the bulbs. These seem to have more leaves growing out of the centers of the bulbs.

I do know that it is not star fruit. It's not really the right shape and you can see leaves coming out of the ends in the last photo.
Ok, we will go with that Anna. It is the Atlanta Botanic Gardens Orchid House after all. But there were bannanas and pomegranates in there, so I thought there might be star fruits as well.
I think photos 1 and 5 show orchid pseudobulbs, not fruits
