Field Notes

Description:

Both sexes have uniform black color plumage, have a rudimentary crest, the whitish beak with black tip, the red iris and a white band hidden in pinions, noticeable, especially during flight. The female has a brown striated throat region

Habitat:

It can be found in the eastern part of Brazil in high altitude areas between the forest and the field above 1,800 m, down to 1000m in winter.

While I agree this looks like a Phainopepla, they are not found in South America at all. If you had included a link with your suggestion like I have asked you to do so many times before Joshua, you might have noticed that.
