A juvenile Bald Eagle

Habitat:

I located this eagle on the Bering Sea side of Adak in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska

yes, the juveniles are mottled brown/white/black. they dont get the iconic white head and tail feathers until about 2 years of age.

It's a beautiful bird. But is it a Bald Eagle? I thought Bald Eagles were white heads. Is it a juvenile or female and that's why it's a Bald Eagle with a brown head?
