Field Notes
Description:
The wingspan is 30 - 42 mm. Antennae are comb-shaped. The top of its body (under the wings) has a yellow colour with dark spots on the sides, when in danger it exposes these yellow parts as a sign of warning. Birds don't eat them, because they are poisonous. The moth flies May to August depending on the location.
The larvae feed on Stinging nettle, Cytisus scoparius, Alfalfa, Echium vulgare and Taraxacum officinale.
