Description:
A pod of Hippopotamuses peak their heads out of the water in a watering hole in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. Hippopotamuses are among the largest living mammals; only elephants and some whales are heavier.
Habitat:
The Maasai Mara National Reserve (MMNR) covers some 1,510 km (583 sq mi) in south-western Kenya. The terrain of the reserve is primarily open grassland with seasonal riverlets.
