Description:

Small frog with different shades of brown.

Notes:

Found along side a weeded hill beside an abandoned rail road track not to far from a stagnant pond full of tadpoles.

wow thats very interesting seeing how it can get really cold in West Virginia during the winter, especially in the moutains with a higher elevation where I found this Wood Frog.
What's really cool about this species of frog is that it is the only Anuran that can be found north of the Arctic Circle. Their bodies can completely freeze in the winter, but in spring when they emerge that can breed in pools with ice and snow.
