Field Notes

Description:

The fur seal has a large broad head and a pointed snout. Males are brown to dark gray. They grow to over 2m and can weigh up to 360 kg (800lb). Females are similar, but in general a bit smaller.

Habitat:

On rocky island outcrops off Montague Island in souther NSW
