Description:

Pretty sure this is a sawfly larva. Its head is buried in the rose bud and you can see some excrement attached to the other end.

That's very interesting! The blue one was spotted just a day before the green. However, there were several on the same plant. I'll be sure to monitor them more closely this year.
I think this may be a blue morph of the other sawfly larvae as they look exactly the same, but your other larvae is the normal green color. If it is this is a rare find!
I'm guessing excrement...pretty destructive little guy. Very beautiful shots!
