I think you are right.. took the photos on a farm, about an hour west from Ottawa, Ontario.. Just love this bird..
It looks like you might have two hummingbirds here. Unless you spotted this at a zoo or similar, Broad-tailed Hummingbird doesn't seem to have Canada in its range according to Cornell's site... http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Broad-tailed_Hummingbird/lifehistory It looks more like a male and a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird, which has most of North America in it east of the Rockies.
