Blue Faced Honeyeater

Easily identified as this is the only Australian bird with a large electric blue patch of bare skin around the eye and face. On immature birds this patch is a greenish yellow colour. They grow to around 30cm in length. They have a long curved beak designed for obtaining nectar. Their head is black with some white bands, the back is olive green and the underbelly is white. Sometimes referred to as Bananabird.
