Description:

Nesting American Bittern. Wading bird of the heron family.

Habitat:

Spotted nesting in the coastal tropical south. This nest was up in a large sea grape.

Notes:

The American Bittern is protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

All I saw were the birds you see there and the one in http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6596401 It is a popular nesting site, so I wouldn't have heard babies either.
