Field Notes

Description:

Ok this is very strange, I know that this beetle is a Goldenrod Soldier Beetle, but I have found on three separate occasions where one looks like it is hanging onto a flower petal upside down so I go to get a picture and come back a day or so later and it's still there only shriveled up a bit. Does anyone know why they do this?

Notes:

Found clinging upside down to different flowers, a few days later are in the same position, but are shriveled up.
