Description:
Wading bird of the heron family. It was quiet and patient as I snapped a number of pictures.
Habitat:
Found in the tropical south off the beach in a wooded area past the sand dunes/sea oats and, yes, next to a parking lot.
Notes:
The American Bittern is protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
