Field Notes

Description:

Cluster of brown-capped mushrooms white veil remnants that give them a fuzzy appearance. Cream-colored gills have lamellulae present are cream colored and slightly decurrent. Stipe is white, bulbous, and stained yellow near the base. A flimsy (cobwebby) white ring zone is present. Spore print is white.

Habitat:

Growing in a cluster on wood at the base of an old chestnut oak tree in a dense mixed hardwood/pine forest. Northwest Georgia.
