The markings on the abdomen look like that of a Pennant of some kind...they usually have wing patterns. The thing about pennants though, they aren't exactly huge as far as dragonflies go. Check out www.odonatacentral.org

It's in the family Libellulidae (Skimmers).Was there a wing pattern or do you have more pics? I may be able to get this down to species.
Clearly, but it was huge! It's wings were so cool, though.
