Thanks for the info Ashish. Actually there are many common names for many species which may be different for the same species around the world so it should not matter much as long as the scientific name is correct. When I had started bird watching and even today many old timers still call it spotted munia. I hope you find the above information of some use. Thanks.

Got a chance of seeing a couple build their nest in my garden. Uploaded the last pic which was shot at a close range.
They are such Beauties :)!
Thanks Ashish. Alice, about these birds: usually many couples are found around together, found in open around cultivated areas. I have seen them eating small insects and are very shy. Feeble chirps are heard when they get scared.
