Field Notes

Description:

This is a scion of Cyperus alternifolius.
The species can reproduce vegetatively, for example when stems of this plant break or are cut they might float head down in the water and establish new colonies elsewhere.

Habitat:

Grows well in swamps and flooded areas.

Notes:

I was inspired to add this when I saw the spotting of Isabela (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6574421).
