Field Notes

Description:

Growing under what I think is Leylandii. Not strong smelling or tasting. I tried to check for a crabby smell (as with Russula xerampelina) but the smell was too faint to say for sure. The skin peeled very easily around the edge of the cap (4th photo) Could be R. pulchra which grows under hardwood trees: http://www.mushroomexpert.com/russula_pulchra.html

thanks Leuba, apparently R. pulchra usually grows under hardwood trees. Most of the surrounding trees looked like Leylandii but there was also a birch somewhere nearby
Appears to have a lovely peachy colour - ? Russula pulchra
