Field Notes

Description:

Medium sized heron, well camouflaged for life skulking in the reeds of marshland.
Hunts small fish.
Secretive bird, more easily heard (deep, regular honk or "boom") than seen.

Habitat:

Reedbeds around lakes.

Notes:

Seen from the Bittern hide at RSPB Minsmere.
