Field Notes

Description:

Darker blue to turquoise on the upperparts and a lighter blue on the underparts. Black eyes and a thin dark bill. This one had a grasshopper snack.

Habitat:

Spotted in eastern Washington along the Umtanum Creek.

Notes:

Ranges across western North America. The mountain bluebird is the state bird of Idaho and Nevada.
