Field Notes

Description:

Light brown undersides, with broad dark brown lines. Each broad brown line has a silver line running in the middle. The hind wings sport colorations mimicking eyes and extensions mimicking antennae, probably as a decoy to distract predators from the real head on the other end.

Habitat:

Bushes along a grassy trail.
