Field Notes

Description:

The larvae of some Lepidoptera species also use Bougainvillea as food plants, for example the Giant Leopard Moth.

The sap of the Bougainvillea can cause skin rashes similar to Poison Ivy.

Habitat:

A circular bush in my front yard.

Notes:

Vibrant beautiful magenta flowers. Sometimes referred to as "paper flower" because the bracts are thin and papery.

There have been reported uses of bougainvillea flowers as a remedy against cough.

Could not find much yet about mystical or symbolic connotations.
