Field Notes

Description:

The Georgia Aquarium opened with several of these fish in their Ocean Voyager Exhibit. They frequently had many yellow fish hovering around them. The yellow fish swam behind the eye of the Groupers all around the body. One Aquarium Volunteer shared a story where he saw one Grouper slam on his brakes and a yellow fish did not stop and the Grouper opened his mouth and ate one. There are different species of large Groupers in this exhibit.

Notes:

The yellow fish swim in front of the mouths of the Whale Sharks riding on the percussion wave caused by the Whale Shark moving forward. It has been described as fish surfing.
