Field Notes

Description:

The discarded skin of a cicada. They go through a molting stage where they will shed this skin and emerge as adults. Often these skins are found still clinging to the surface of the plant or structure they were on.

Notes:

My son and I found several of these around the apartment today. All were still clinging to the walls and windows. My son was fascinated by them.

They are amazing! I only wish that I had caught it emerging.
