Description:

These are two different spiders on separate sand banks of the same small river (Black Creek, MS). Their coloration and patterning seem really well adapted to sand.

I believe you're correct, FD.
This is definitely a Wolf Spider. You can tell by the eyes. I believe it looks very similar to this species: http://bugguide.net/node/view/91594 What do you think? Check out some of the photos in that section.
Based on the eyes fangs and leg length it is most likely a species of wolf spider.
I would guess a Huntsman or a Fishing Spider by your locale.
