Field Notes

Habitat:

Winter is a hard time for the red deer in the Oostvaarderplassen near Lelystad, Netherlands. Each year several animal will die of exhaustion and/or deseases.
Not a happy sight to find on an early morning walk; but that's nature I guess.

I agree, I can't say I enjoy these kind of pictures, but is part of nature, and they are valuable
@Paul, Why? To arrest winter? These are victims of exhaustion and desease, not of hunting or traps.
Yeah, really sad. On this specific morning I found about 15 dead deer, all without eyes and most of them with an open belly. Seems the scavengers know what they like best.
