Some sort of insect that I have never seen before. We found a bunch of these all over the place, in the process of dying.

About an inch, I'd say. I agree that it is some sort of Plecoptera. There are a lot of different kinds though, so figuring out which one will be difficult.
Wish I could narrow it down for you but I ended up with no fieldbooks while in the field :) go figure that one. What is the length? Very cool insect.
Thank you. I'm fairly certain you're right. Plecopteras are water bugs, and we're experiencing a flood right now.
