Field Notes

Description:

A beautiful large perennial rhizomatous plant up to two meters high, with panicles of small pure white flowers for the female plant, ivory white for the male.

Habitat:

Mountain forests, in shady zones and wet zones, not above 1700 m. Found in alpine areas and the Pyrénées.

Notes:

Known in French as "reine des bois", queen of the woods.
