Field Notes

Description:

I've spotted only a few individual locusts, no swarms, in the wadis the last two weeks, but "A locust outbreak in Sudan and Eritrea is spreading rapidly along both sides of the Red Sea to Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization said on Friday, flagging a possible threat to crops and food security." (Feb 15) Not sure how big the risk is this far north in Egypt. http://www.fao.org/ag/locusts/common/ecg/75/en/190215updateE.jpg

Habitat:

desert coastal wadi on Gulf of Aqaba coast
