Description:

This moth was given a common name based on a larval host tree that it uses, the tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima). This tree was introduced to the US from China and is considered an invasive species

Habitat:

Eve under my porch overhang in a residential neighborhood

Notes:

I usually see these moths on flowers in nature reserves, so it was a surprise to see one resting on my house.
