Field Notes

Description:

Large fly. Very well camouflaged against the bark of the tree. There were quite a few on about 4 or 5 trees.

Habitat:

Tall trees near a river. Belun village near Katwa. Absolutely rural area with some cultivation nearby and obviously, cattle..

Notes:

ড়াশ in Bangla according to our local guide. I have heard that bites from these flies can drive cattle crazy!
I would love an ID, please.
