Field Notes

Description:

The spotted salamander or yellow-spotted salamander is a mole salamander common in the eastern United States and Canada. The spotted salamander is the state amphibian of South Carolina. - from Wikipedia

Notes:

Since I saw KarenL’s spotting of yellow-spotted salamander, I always wanted to find this creature. Well, unexpectedly, I found this in my basement last night. I also found a partner of this salamander later in the same place. The other partner was in the one spot all night and never moved. After the photo session this morning, I took it back to the basement. They were happily united and took off together.
