Description:

bright turquoise colored stink bug

Habitat:

central american forests. I found this one in the Manuel Antonio National Park

Notes:

Unfortunately, these photos are out of focus. Apparently, this brightly colored stink bug is quite common in Costa Rica. It is a true bug of the Heteroptera suborder. Those are great photos, Yasser! Interestingly enough, I saw this species while I was down there as well! I saw it in Santa Rosa National Park in the northwest, but I'm still working on uploading my photos from La Selva. I was hoping to get an ID for it, and it looks like you've saved me the trouble. Anyway, as for the other bug, it's a stink bug nymph. It's probably a nymph of that same species, since they're so close together.

I was hoping someone would know the other bug. I have a much clearer photo of it that I will be uploading shortly. I'm guessing it's another true bug (suborder Heteropetera), but I'm not sure. Derek, aka Latimeria, might now as he was recently in Costa Rica too and he's studying insects.
