Yeah, looks like a ficus to me too. I have one that's been trained similar to this one.
The leaves are usually more pointed and shiny but the trunk and branches look like a Fig - Ficus benjamina. I've seen them done as a bonsai often. It might be another species. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ficus_benjamina
