Field Notes

Description:

Male: Small, finch-sized bunting, head blue with a red eyering, thick, gray bill, chest and belly red, back lime green, wings dull gray-green.

Female: Small, finch-sized bunting, most of body lime green, thick, gray bill, chest and belly a bright yellow.

Habitat:

Forest near an open field.

Notes:

The most colorful bird in North America. Was a lifer at the time.
