The official state flower of Alabama. Has been planted around all homes in the south for 200 years., blooms in spring.

Notes:

Camellias were cultivated in the gardens of China and Japan for centuries before they were seen in Europe.Camellia sinensis, the tea plant, is of major commercial importance because tea is made from its leaves.
