Description:
This Clarion Angelfish - Holacanthus clarionensis was named after the location, Clarion Island a remote island westernmost from the main west coast of Mexico (Colima State), approximately 314 km distance away.
This fish plays an important role to their habitat, especially around the Revillagigedo group of islands where pelagic animals like Oceanic Manta Rays and Scalloped Hammerheads visits the reef there to get cleaned.
Habitat:
They are endemic to southern tip of Baja California, Mexico; also from Clarion, and the Revillagigedo Group off the western coast of Mexico and from Clipperton Island.
Notes:
They are listed as Vulnerable under the IUCN Red List due to its limited distribution area. However, it is a popular aquarium fish due to its vibrant colour and they fetch a high price.
