Definitley a woodchuck. Copyu are very rare in the northeast sout of canada.
It all depends on the tail :). If hairy: woodcuck; if naked and small: Coypu. I think.
Did it have a long small naked tail? If yes, it might be a "Coypu". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coypu
