Thank you Daniele, for the suggestion and comment. Indeed I checked first, and it didn't look exactly the same (on Wikipedia), also regarding the distribution, but I gave a chance to it. My bad too, as I couldn't be sure. Thank you Joshua for the try/help. I will update the info. I have other pictures of female redstart feeding her babies, but it was closer to srping, and her belly didn't look that bright. I guess during summer time they have a brighter feather. Thank you everyone!
Thanks for your comment Joshua. We see you're providing a lot of help with ID suggestions. Can we kindly ask you to always check for range before making a suggestion, and to always provide a reference with your suggestions. This allows other users to check your suggestion, and can ultimately be used in the reference field once the spotting is finalized. Many thanks in advance!
Sorry about the ID, Frederic. I agree with Daniele.
I agree with Daniele, this is a female Redstart, Phoenicurus phoenicurus. The Thrush-nightingale is very unlikely there, they are much further east, in the old USSR states, not in the Swiss mountains. Also they have mottled grey, not red flanks.
Frederic, this bird is not a Thrush Nightingale. The Thrush Nightingale is a “nightingale of the East”, and occurs in Northern and Eastern Central Europe. It has only been reported in Switzerland exceptionally. http://www.vogelwarte.ch/thrush-nightingale.html?searched=nightingale&advsearch=allwords&highlight=ajaxSearch_highlight+ajaxSearch_highlight1 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrush_nightingale It is best not to accept suggestions unless they are accompanied by a reference. Even with a reference, our advise is to always double check. I will make an alternative suggestion. Please check it out :-)
