Description:
This is a small rodent, buff colored with light and dark stripes down its back. About 11 inches in length, including the black-striped tail.
Habitat:
Spotted at the Tamarac Visitor Center. Thirteen-lined Ground Squirrel was originally found in the native prairies of central U.S., but now lives anywhere some grassland exists.
Notes:
They are a favored prey of hawks, foxes, coyotes, weasels and snakes.
