Field Notes

Description:

Along the trails, we could see different colors of moss growing on the wet sides of the water coming out of the ground and rocks. Most was green moss, but there was black 1/4 inch columns of black in some areas of moss too.

Habitat:

Amicalola Falls State Park, Chattahoochee National Forest, 418 Amicalola State Park Rd, Dawsonville, GA 30534-1003, USA

Notes:

Some patches of moss looked like tiny islands in the middle of trickles of water. Other moss areas were growing on vertical marble jutting out from the mountains.
