It's definitely a yucca. Hard to tell the species without seeing the leaves but maybe it's Y. filamentosa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yucca_filamentosa

Looks like the flower stalk of a yucca that grows in my front yard. No idea of the species though. Flowers were edible.
