about the size of a common bumble bee, dark eyes, striped tail ( yellow and brown)

It looks a bit to 'chubby' on the photo for Eristalis tenax but I haven't actually seen it in the flesh as it were. It also looks like there is too much yellow on its abdomen. I have a shot of a tenax to compare if you like. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6166824
This is a hoverfly. Hard to be 100% on species though. It looks like it could be Myathropa florae but to be sure you would need to see the wing veins.
