No problem :) Last week I had a group of 75 blue-winged teal and it took me a solid 15 minutes to figure out why I wasn't seeing males in the group haha. We don't get many ducks in the summer so they are just now starting to return for winter and I forget every year that they look different when they first show up!
Cool! There seems to be a lot of bird species where the males go through eclipse plumage...very interesting. Thank you for the extra info Ashley :) Liana
Yep, blue-winged teal! Though not necessarily females, this time of year they could also be males in eclipse plumage which looks almost identical to the female haha
Hey James, I'm no duck expert but I got curious about this one. I am wondering if they might be Blue-winged Teal (Anas discors) females at all? I found a pic on this site: http://gunnhook.com/outdoor-journal/10-t... that shows similar flying position. Hope this helps :) Liana
