Field Notes
Description:
There is a whole colony of garter snakes living in our woodpile; they range from about 6 inches to over 2 feet long. The ones in this part of the world are mostly dark blackish grey with yellow stripes but a few have a reddish stripe along the sides. They are surprisingly unafraid and often watch me and even approach when I am working around the woodpile.
Habitat:
Woodpile (clearing in mixed woodland).
