Description:
Meadow mushroom as it is known in North America. Also called field mushroom. A beautiful white mushroom closely related to the cultived "button mushroom". It comes up in meadows, fields, and grassy areas after a rain. Has pink gills (covered by a thin white membrane when the mushroom is young) and then becomes chocolate brown as the mushroom matures. Widely common in North America.
Habitat:
Several of these mushrooms were found in the backyard this morning after an overnight rain.
