Field Notes

Description:

The Hopping-Mouse has long hind legs and a long tufted tail. It has short chestnut coloured fur with grey-white underbelly. Very active at night and very social. They use a quadrupedal gait when moving slowly, but when moving quickly they use their long hind legs to bound along.

Habitat:

Spinifex Hopping-Mice live in arid spinifex tussock grasslands, woodlands, shrub lands and desert sand dunes.

Notes:

These hopping mice were spotted at the Ipswich Nature Centre in Queens Park, Ipswich. Lovely, lively little mice full of character. Hard to catch them for a photo!

So cute! But I'd also swear I saw one hopping through my house... :-/
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary? Yes I have been there =) it is very good, not as good as Australia Zoo or Currumbin but they have LOTS of koalas and they also have some really nice birds of prey, a great bird of prey show my barn owl in here is from there, definitely worth a visit! If you havn't been to Alma Park Zoo you should go there too.
Shari.. did you ever visit the Lone Lane Koala Sanctuary? I will be in Brissy and I am thinking about visiting the park?!?!
They were on display at a nature centre in Ipswich. =)
