Shiny, orange beetle-type insects.

Habitat:

Found on a thistle.

Notes:

There were many in one area; many mating pairs.

You might be correct Weets..!!
It has to be the common red soldier beetle on a thistle like in this spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6607985. It's mating time for them.
That may be it ... I'll have to go back and try to get a better picture of them.
Picture is not clear...may be soft winged flower beetle..!!
I don't think they're scarlet lily beetles, but that's certainly close. Thanks for the suggestion.
Flower look like Adenoon...!!
